- Paano piliin ang tamang TESDA NC based on the exact job na gusto mong pasukin
- Aling TESDA qualifications ang may strongest demand signals in 2026 based on TESDA and DMW data
- Paano malaman kung current pa ang qualification at kung may additional license, test, or requirement na kailangan
Ang Direktang Sagot
Para malaman kung anong TESDA NC ang kailangan mo, start with the job you want, then choose the current TESDA qualification that matches its required competencies.
Huwag pumili dahil lang sikat ang course, mataas ang NC level, o may nagsabing malaki ang sahod.

TESDA follows an Area-Based and Demand-Driven TVET strategy under its National Technical Education and Skills Development Plan 2023–2028, which means training should respond to actual skills and industry needs.

Tip from the author: Kung may actual work experience ka na sa skill, ask a TESDA-accredited assessment center first if you can proceed directly to competency assessment before paying for full training. This can help you avoid unnecessary time and cost.
What Is a TESDA National Certificate
A National Certificate or NC is issued by TESDA after a person undergoes competency assessment and is found competent in all required units of competency of a qualification. Hindi ito simpleng certificate na nagpapatunay na natapos mo ang training.
For example, Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC II covers competencies related to installing and maintaining electrical wiring, lighting, and related systems in residential houses or buildings where voltage does not exceed 600 volts.
TESDA’s Training Regulations identify occupational outcomes that may include:
- Building-Wiring Electrician
- Residential/Commercial-Wiring Electrician
- Maintenance Electrician
Kung lahat ng required competencies ng qualification ay naipasa mo, maaari kang makatanggap ng National Certificate.
A Certificate of Competency or COC, on the other hand, may be issued when a person demonstrates competence in a particular unit or cluster of units.

TESDA states that an NC or COC is generally valid for five years.
Important Note: A higher NC number does not automatically mean a better course or better job. Choose the qualification and level that match the actual competencies required for your target work.

What TESDA NC Do You Need for Your Target Job
The right qualification depends on the exact work you want to perform.

Use the table below as a starting point, then verify the current Training Regulations and employer requirements before enrolling.
| If you want to work as… | TESDA qualification to check first | What you should know |
|---|---|---|
| Building or residential wiring electrician | Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC II | Covers specified electrical installation and maintenance competencies. |
| Carbon-steel plate or pipe welder using MMAW | Manual Metal Arc Welding NC II | Other welding jobs may require GMAW, GTAW, FCAW, or another qualification. |
| Beginner plumber | Plumbing NC I | Covers basic plumbing work, including installation of a single plumbing unit. |
| Plumber handling broader work | Plumbing NC II | Check the trainee entry requirements before enrolling. |
| Elderly caregiver | Caregiving (Elderly) NC II | Specifically focused on competencies for caring for elderly clients. |
| Computer or network service technician | Computer Systems Servicing NC II | Covers computer systems, networks, servers, and maintenance. |
| Food-processing worker | Food Processing NC II | Covers several food-processing methods and production competencies. |
| Baker or pastry worker | Food Production (Bread and Patisserie) NC II | Check the current TESDA qualification rather than relying on older course names. |
| Automotive engine repair worker | Automotive Servicing (Engine Repair) NC II | Focused on engine-repair competencies. |
| Automotive electrical repair worker | Automotive Servicing (Electrical Repair) NC II | Focused on automotive electrical systems. |
| Automotive chassis repair worker | Automotive Servicing (Chassis Repair) NC II | Focused on chassis-related repair competencies. |
For welding, be especially careful.
MMAW NC II is not a universal certificate for every welding job. It covers competencies for welding carbon-steel plates and pipe components using the Manual Metal Arc Welding process.
Kung ang employer ay naghahanap ng ibang welding process, maaaring ibang qualification or trade test ang kailangan.
Plumbing also needs careful checking. TESDA’s Plumbing NC II Training Regulations list Plumbing NC I or relevant plumbing experience among the trainee entry requirements.
Kaya kung beginner ka, huwag agad mag-assume na NC II ang tamang starting point.

What NCs Have the Strongest Demand Signals in 2026
Kung hindi ka pa decided sa career path, current TESDA research gives particularly strong demand signals for electrical work, welding, automotive-related skills, and plumbing.
This is not an official TESDA ranking of National Certificates. It is an evidence-based AnongNC comparison using current TESDA skills studies and, where relevant, DMW overseas deployment data.
1. Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC II
TESDA Women’s Center’s 2026 Electrical and Electronics research reports sustained demand for technicians in electrical installation and maintenance.
The same report also identifies growing skills needs involving:
- Power systems
- Solar PV
- Automation
- Smart technologies
- Advanced electrical and electronic systems
This supports electrical work as a strong skills pathway.
Importanteng distinction: EIM NC II should not be treated as complete preparation for every solar, automation or smart-grid job. Some employers may require more specialized or higher-level competencies.
2. Manual Metal Arc Welding NC II
TESDA’s 2026 Construction and Metals and Engineering research identifies welding among skilled occupations where demand remains high and skills gaps continue.
DMW provides a separate overseas indicator.
Preliminary DMW data recorded 5,054 welders and flamecutters among new-hire land-based OFWs in 2025.
January 2026 deployment for the same occupational group was also higher than in January 2025.
This shows evidence of welding demand, but it does not mean MMAW NC II guarantees employment or qualifies a worker for every welding vacancy.
3. Automotive Servicing Specializations
TESDA’s 2026 automotive research reports that traditional roles such as automotive service technicians and auto electricians remain important, while the industry is increasingly adopting:
- Electronic systems
- Computerized diagnostics
- Electric-vehicle technologies
- Digital servicing tools
DMW also recorded 2,771 motor-vehicle mechanics and repairers among preliminary 2025 new-hire land-based OFWs.
Kung automotive ang gusto mo, the important step is to choose the specialization that matches the actual work rather than taking a generic approach.
4. Plumbing
TESDA’s latest construction-sector research also identifies plumbing among occupations with continuing skills demand and skills gaps.
This makes plumbing worth considering for readers interested in skilled construction work.
However, the appropriate NC level still depends on your existing competencies and the entry requirements of the qualification.

How Can You Avoid Choosing an Outdated Qualification
Always check TESDA’s current Training Regulations directory before enrolling. Some old qualification names can still appear online even after TESDA has issued newer or revised Training Regulations.
Here are important examples:
| Older qualification | What TESDA’s Training Regulations directory shows |
|---|---|
| Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC I–IV | Marked Superseded; MMAW NC I–IV qualifications are listed. |
| Bread and Pastry Production NC II | Marked Superseded; Food Production (Bread and Patisserie) NC II is listed. |
| Automotive Servicing NC II | Marked Superseded; Engine Repair, Electrical Repair, and Chassis Repair NC II are listed separately. |
TESDA’s welding directory currently marks SMAW NC I–IV as superseded and lists Manual Metal Arc Welding qualifications.
TESDA explains MMAW as the welding process also known as SMAW, so readers searching using the older term may still encounter both names.
For bread and pastry, TESDA’s Training Regulations directory shows Bread and Pastry Production NC II as superseded while also listing Food Production (Bread and Patisserie) NC II.
What About Caregiving NC II?
Caregiving needs more careful wording.
TESDA’s current Training Regulations directory still lists Caregiving NC II together with specialized caregiving qualifications such as:
- Caregiving (Elderly) NC II
- Caregiving (Clients with Special Needs) NC II
- Caregiving (Newborn to Pre-Schooler) NC II
- Caregiving (Grade Schooler to Adolescent) NC II

Therefore, it would be inaccurate to simply tell readers that Caregiving NC II no longer exists.
Why Can Older Names Still Appear?
Older qualification names may remain visible in:
- Search-engine results
- Old school pages
- Previous articles
- Training advertisements
- Some TESDA program listings
Kaya bago magbayad, verify the exact qualification with TESDA and ask the training institution which current Training Regulation and assessment qualification will apply to your batch.

What Should You Check If You Want to Work Abroad
If overseas work ang target mo, find the exact job first before choosing an NC. Check the employer’s requirements, destination-country rules, and the TESDA qualification that best matches the actual work.
Top Skilled-Worker Demand Among 2025 OFW New Hires
Preliminary DMW data, new-hire land-based OFWs
Source: DMW Overseas Employment Statistics Compendium (preliminary 2025 data)
DMW’s preliminary 2025 deployment data include:
- 5,054 welders and flamecutters
- 3,095 building-construction labourers
- 2,771 motor-vehicle mechanics and repairers
among new-hire land-based OFWs.

But these are occupational categories—not TESDA qualification names.
For example, an overseas vacancy simply labeled “welder” may require:
- A specific welding process
- A particular welding position
- Experience with specific materials
- Work experience
- An employer trade test
- Other destination-country requirements
Kaya hindi safe na kumuha agad ng isang welding NC dahil lang nakita mong mataas ang demand for “welders.”
Use this sequence:
Overseas Job → Employer Requirements → Country Requirements → Matching TESDA Qualification → Other Required Tests or Certifications

What Additional License or Certification Might You Need
Some jobs require more than a TESDA NC. An NC proves competency under a TESDA qualification, but it does not replace a professional license or other legal requirement when one applies to the actual work.
Electrical work is one example.
The Professional Regulation Commission regulates Professional Electrical Engineers, Registered Electrical Engineers, and Registered Master Electricians under Republic Act No. 7920, or the New Electrical Engineering Law.
This does not mean every EIM NC II holder automatically needs to become a Registered Master Electrician just to obtain or use the NC.
The important point is that when the actual work falls within a legally regulated scope of electrical practice, the applicable PRC and legal requirements also need to be followed.
Depending on your target job, other requirements may include:
- PRC license
- Driver’s license
- Employer trade test
- Language test
- Work experience
- Country-specific certification
Kaya bago mag-enroll, ask:
“TESDA NC lang ba ang kailangan sa trabahong gusto ko, or may additional license or test pa?”

How Much Can You Earn With a TESDA NC
There is no single accurate salary for a TESDA NC. Your earnings depend on the actual occupation, employer, location, industry and experience—not simply on the certificate you hold.

The Philippine Statistics Authority’s Occupational Wages Survey reports wages according to occupations and industries rather than by TESDA National Certificate.
Kaya misleading ang claims tulad ng:
“Kapag may NC II ka, automatic ₱30,000 ang salary.”
Two people with the same NC can earn very different salaries because they may:
- Work in different industries
- Live in different regions
- Have different experience levels
- Work for different employers
- Perform different job functions
For a realistic estimate, identify the exact occupation first, then check the latest wage data or actual job offer.

How Can You Choose the Right TESDA NC
You can narrow down the right NC by checking the job, current qualification, entry requirements, and official TESDA records before paying for training.

1. Choose the Exact Job You Want
Huwag “construction” or “abroad” lang.
Be specific:
- Electrician
- Welder
- Plumber
- Elderly caregiver
- Automotive repair worker
- Computer technician
2. Find the Current TESDA Qualification
Search TESDA’s current Training Regulations and identify the qualification that matches the work.
Do not rely only on an old Facebook graphic, training-school advertisement, or outdated article.
3. Check the Entry Requirements
Read the Training Regulations or ask the registered training institution about applicable trainee requirements.
May qualifications na nangangailangan ng previous competencies, experience, or another qualification.
4. Verify the Training Program
Check whether the institution offers a TESDA-registered program for the qualification you want.
5. Verify the Assessment Center
Check TESDA’s list of accredited assessment centers for the qualification.
6. Check Other Job Requirements
If overseas or regulated work ang target mo, verify any employer, DMW, PRC, or destination-country requirements as well.
